v1.0.4 — 2 October 2026
Bring the Windows app to parity with the macOS app.
- Windows app brought to feature parity with the macOS app, including the scan catalog, orphan detection and system monitor.
- Fixed a crash on the Windows Clean page.
- Added a self-test and a binding lint to the Windows test step.
- Release CI simplified so the Windows test output can no longer go missing, and stopped walking
bin/ and obj/. - Release version resolved once so the macOS verify step can read it.
v1.0.3 — 2 October 2026
Make CI failures diagnosable.
- macOS build failures are now published to the job summary and as check-run annotations.
- The macOS build log is captured as a CI artifact so a failure can be diagnosed without admin access.
v1.0.2 — 2 October 2026
Fix macOS release pipeline and Windows installation.
- macOS binary path lookup fixed for CI runners; releases can now be cut from any passing build.
- Fixed a Windows startup failure and made installation a single double-click.
- macOS release CI fixed; the bundle version is stamped from the git tag.
v1.0.1 — 2 October 2026
First public release.
- macOS app: scan catalog, app uninstaller with orphan detection, menu bar system monitor, Full Disk Access guidance and a local deletion audit log.
- Repository restructured: the MoleMac directory was removed, Worm was promoted to the repository root, and core modules were renamed to
WormCore and WormDiag. SHA256SUMS.txt published with every release asset.

Looking for the source of a change? Every release is a git tag, so git log v1.0.3..v1.0.4 in a clone gives you the exact commits. The full history is at github.com/namdevnaman/worm/commits.
Version numbering. Worm is pre-1.1 and moves quickly while the catalog is still being filled in. Expect breaking changes to the target list between minor versions, though the risk-tier model and the deletion behaviour will not change: Trash and Recycle Bin first, always.
Frequently asked questions
What is the latest version of Worm Cleaner?
v1.0.4, released 2 October 2026. It brings the Windows app to feature parity with the macOS app, fixes a crash on the Windows Clean page, and hardens the release pipeline. Binaries and checksums are on GitHub Releases.
How do I check which version I have?
The version is shown in the app itself and printed in the footer of this site. On macOS you can also check the bundle: `defaults read /Applications/Worm.app/Contents/Info.plist CFBundleShortVersionString`. On Windows, the About screen in the tray panel shows it.
Does upgrading delete anything?
No. Updating replaces the application bundle and leaves your settings, your protect list and your deletion audit log untouched. Existing audit logs at ~/Library/Logs/Worm/deletions.tsv on macOS and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Worm\Logs\deletions.tsv on Windows are preserved across versions.
How do I get notified about new releases?
Watch the repository on GitHub, which will notify you when a new tag is published. There is no account to create and no email list. The only network call in the macOS app is an optional update check, and it is off until you ask for it.
